Köroglu takes its name from the legendary hero Köroğlu, whose epic tale is told across the Turkic world from the Caucasus to Central Asia. This dombra setting is by Däuletkerei Shygaiuly (c. 1820–1887), a master of the Western tökpe school who, alongside Kurmangazy, was known for a more lyrical, inward voice — and the kúі has that noble, story-telling quality, by turns proud and reflective.

Rated ★★☆ at ♩=160, it sits in the middle of the catalogue for difficulty: the tempo is moderate, but the piece moves through many contrasting sections, so the work is in shaping each one and joining them without a bump.
