Saryarka — ‘the Golden Steppe’ — is one of Kurmangazy’s grandest kúіs, a sweeping portrait of the open plains of central Kazakhstan. Written by Kurmangazy Sagyrbaiuly (1823–1896), it is often heard as music of freedom and horizon: a galloping figure that surges forward and opens out, section after section, like a rider crossing endless grassland.

It is also one of the most demanding pieces here. At a blistering ♩=280 and rated ★★★, it asks for both speed and architecture — you must keep the long line in view while the right hand drives without tiring. Learn it in its lettered sections (A through J), each at 0.5×, and be sure the recurring gallop pattern is completely even before you join sections together. Bring the tempo up in small steps; the piece only comes alive once the pulse is rock-steady and the phrases breathe as one long sweep.
